Why does the Dewberry Filter Cartridge last much longer than other brands?
There are two reasons- No. 1 The Dewberry Cartridge contains a lot more active filtration components that's why it has a much larger capacity than other commonly used cartridges. The result: more active components = extended service life. No. 2 The lifetime of the Dewberry Cartridge is monitored by the CLM™ (Cartridge Lifetime Monitor). The CLM™ calculates how much water has actually been filtered. Other water filter brands use 'indicators' which estimate when the filter should be changed . The Dewberry CLM™ is a precision monitor and therefore the cartridge is never under or overutilised.
How does CLM
work?
The CLM™ (Cartridge Lifetime Monitor) is an electronic microprocessor-based device. It calculates accurately how much water has been filtered. Each time you fill the upper chamber of your Dewberry jug the CLM™ counts this as a 'batch' of water. You will see the digital display flash in a running sequence when you refill your Dewberry. When the cartridge service life is over the display indicates that a new cartridge should be installed.
Is it really
necessary to put the cartridge into water before installation?
We recommend immersing the new cartridge in water and shaking it gently to remove any air that might be inside. Trapped air could, in rare occurrences, impair the quality of the filtration process so immersing in water is a simple precaution to ensure maximum efficiency of the cartridge.
How many litres of water can I purify with one Dewberry Cartridge?
The service life of the cartridge is dependent on the quality of the water you are purifying. The higher the amount of impurities in the water, the shorter its life will be. Also the service life and purification effectiveness will vary according to the nature of the impurities as some are much easier to eliminate than others. There is a maximum level of impurities allowed in tap water and we use this as the coefficient for measuring the life of the Dewberry Cartridge. Based on this analysis procedure the capacity of one Dewberry Cartridge is 300+ litres.
Is there a maximum time period for using one Dewberry Cartridge?
The maximum time duration for using a Dewberry Cartridge is 3 months regardless of the volume of water purified. This time limit is also monitored by the CLM™ (Cartridge Lifetime Monitor).
What is the life
time of the CLM?
The CLM™ (Cartridge Lifetime Monitor) is battery controlled and will last for 5+ years. Please do not forget that the CLM™ is an electronic device and must be disposed of according to your area's environmental provisions and regulations. Please help keep your environment clean!
If I occasionally open the flip-top lid without filling the Dewberry with water, does this activate the CLM?
No. The CLM™ (Cartridge Life Monitor) is controlled by specially developed software which monitors the filling and water purification time. We have undertaken extensive tests to research the accuracy of the CLM™ calculation and have found that under normal usage conditions its accuracy is excellent.
Are there dangerous impurities in my tap water?
According to many independent researchers tap water quality is not always perfect. The composition of the impurities found can vary according to the region or place where you live. These are the most common substances found in tap water that are potentially dangerous:
. Chlorine and chlorine-organic combinations. These are always present in tap water. Chorine is added to water to kill pathogenic bacteria to make the water microbiologically safe. However, chlorine itself is a poison; it has an unpleasant smell and is a very active substance which combines with organic impurities. Such chlorine-based combinations can be quite toxic even in very small quantities.
. Toxic metals like lead, arsenic, aluminium and others can sometimes be present in tap water.
The Dewberry Water Filter removes chlorine and chlorine-based combinations, organic impurities and toxic metals. Taste is improved and odours are completely eliminated.
How do I know when it's time to change the filter cartridge?
The service life of the cartridge is not endless. It's important to change it in time but in everyday life it's not easy to remember when you installed the cartridge or how much water has been purified. That's why we invented the CLM™ (Cartridge Lifetime Monitor). The CLM™ accurately measures the amount of water that has been filtered. It also controls the maximum time allowed for using the cartridge (3 months). Always replace the cartridge when indicated by the CLM™.
Why is it necessary to purify tap water?
The quality of tap water is not always perfect. Sometime water contains impurities which give it an unpleasant taste or smell. Some of the impurities can pose a threat to health. That's why millions of people all over the world use water filters for household water purification. The Dewberry water filter will always give you pure, clear and fresh tasting water for tea or coffee preparation, for cooking food or just for drinking. It's a simple, reliable and cost effective solution for everyday life!
What happens if I don't replace the cartridge on time?
The purification capacity of the cartridge is not endless. When the service life of the cartridge is over, its purification effectiveness will diminish. So if you want your Dewberry to give you perfect water quality, please change the cartridge at the due time. We do not recommend you use one cartridge longer than 3 months. Please replace the cartridge when indicated by the CLM™ (Cartridge Lifetime Monitor) digital display.
Why is it necessary to discard the first two jugfuls of purified water when I change the cartridge?
Each new filter cartridge needs to be flushed out and activated. That's why the first two batches of water should be discarded. You may see some tiny particles of dust from the activated carbon in the first batch of the water, this is absolutely normal. The carbon dust is washed out completely by in the first two batches of purified water.
